The Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation announces 2.2 million in new grant funding for 51 projects to begin in 2018
DETROIT, June 6, 2018 – Through grantmaking and advocacy, the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation enables researchers and community organizations to fund innovations and services capable of advancing children’s health. These efforts have totaled more than $40 million in grant funding since 2011.
Every year the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation awards new funding to a carefully selected group of applicants whose work supports the Foundation’s Three Pillars (Community Benefit, Pediatric Research and Medical Education) and Five Focus Areas (Nutritional Wellness, Abuse & Neglect, Injury Prevention, Mental Health and Oncology/Cardiology).
The Foundation is pleased to announce that in the second round of their 2018 grant cycle, funding for 51 projects totaling 2.2 million dollars has been awarded. While the Foundation remains committed to supporting Children’s Hospital of Michigan and affiliates, 14 of these grant recipients are new community partners to the Foundation.

These 14 new relationships will allow us to broaden our reach and make an impact on the health and wellness of more children and families,” stated Lawrence J. Boys & Girls Club of Oakland and Macomb Counties – Connect Today! Program – $70,000
Care House of Oakland County – Breaking the Cycle of Abuse Program – $64,901
Chad Tough Foundation / University of Michigan – Precision Oncology in a Multi-Institutional, Multi-Ethnic Cohort of Children with High-Risk Malignancies – $592,101
Children’s Hospital Association / Children’s Hospital of Michigan – Speak Now for Kids 2018 Family Advocacy Day – $4,508
Detroit Cristo Rey High School – Vision Testing and Eye Glass Replacement – $30,850
Detroit Police / Detroit Public Safety Foundation– Children in Trauma Intervention Camp – $45,000
Detroit Public Television – Detroit PBS Kids: Healthy Choices – $99,038
Friendship Circle – Lessons for Life – $50,000
Gleaners – Making Investments in the Lives of Kids (MILK) Movement – $35,000
Jewish Foundation – “We Need to Talk” Multimedia Content Packages – $50,000
Kids Kicking Cancer – The Heroes Circle – Children Healing Children – $75,000
Ruth Ellis Center – Family Support Model with LGBTQ Youth in Foster Care – $50,000
University Pediatricians Autism Center – Autism Center Program Training – $39,883
