36% of Michigan kids are suffering — over 80% are not being treated

Thank you for supporting the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation. We hope you will consider helping us break a taboo surrounding what should be considered an epidemic.

Experts say that 36% of Michigan children have at least two emotional, behavioral or developmental conditions. These are the most common diseases of childhood – more common than cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined.

Across Michigan, there are bake sales, walks, online campaigns and other very public ways of raising money to help kids with physical conditions. But due to the stigma surrounding it, mental health does not yet have that support. We can and must change that.

More than 80% of kids with mental illnesses are not receiving the treatment they need. Think about that. We can and must change that too.

Our Children’s Hospital Foundation Board agrees that mental health can no longer be considered taboo and it must be a public priority. We have made it one of our Foundation’s key focus areas.

Your donation would enable us to fund medical treatment solutions and make a real difference in the life of a child.
