2014 was an important year for local construction company, Barton Malow. Last year the organization celebrated their 90thAnniversary and the Barton Malow Foundation formally filed as a 501c3. In recognition of these two milestones, Barton Malow wanted to shift their focus to those who shared in their commitment to helping build stronger communities by giving back.
“I graduated from Leadership Detroit through the Detroit Regional Chamber last year and being surrounded by so many leaders from the non-profit side of Detroit inspired me to push Barton Malow to support the communities we build in more than ever before,” shared Marisa Varga, Marketing Director at Barton Malow.
When the holidays rolled around Barton Malow wanted to provide clients, partners and subcontractors a creative way to participate in the giving season and Varga was tasked with the initiative. After brainstorming with the rest of the marketing team, as well as taking inspiration from her son’s love for the book Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site, the idea to utilize the book to support multiple children’s charities throughout the country rose to the top of the list.
Through their Foundation Barton Malow provided clients, partners and subcontractors the opportunity to receive their own copy of the book Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site as a gift or to have their copy donated. The value of each book gifted was then matched by the Barton Malow Foundation and dispersed amongst seven charitable children’s organizations, of which Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation was a part , along with copies of the book.
In total, Barton Malow is gifting and donating over 500 books and $8,000!
Thank you, Barton Malow for all you do for the community and for supporting us in our mission to improve the health and well-being of children!
